Department of Atmospheric Sciences, National Taiwan University (NTU) has installed FURUNO Compact X band Weather Radar at their campus. It is installed on the rooftop and remote-controlled via Internet. The weather radar data is publicized on their website.

It is utilized for their urban intense precipitation research and education for students. In research field, there are some usage examples, but one example is to make 2D Doppler wind data with some other existing weather radars.
NTU mentioned that compact size, low power consumption, transportability and high range resolution are the advantages of FURUNO weather radar. On the other hands, compact size trades off for some functions that big size radar has.
NTU is satisfied with technical support by FURUNO. FURUNO always keeps close relationship with NTU.
